On Thursday June 28th, H.R. 2829: Financial Services-General Government Appropriations Act. This legislation provides more funding than the President requested to help educate taxpayers about their rights and their obligations, including more money for IRS walk-in sites and the National Taxpayer Advocate. It rejects the President's proposal to cut funds for the Small Business Administration, instead providing increased funding to help local businesses.
Additional funding is also provided for the Consumer Product Safety Commission, the Federal Trade Commission and the Securities and Exchange Commission. H.R. 2829 also contains more money than the President requested for the Office of Terrorism and Financial Intelligence, which will help increase efforts to track and combat terrorist financing. I voted YES. H.R. 2829 passed in the House.
