Congressman Mike Capuano Establishes Bi-Partisan Congressional Caucus on Sudan
Joins Representatives Payne (D-N.J.), Tancredo (R-Colo.) and Wolf (R-Va.)
October 19, 2005
Congressman Mike Capuano (D-MA) joined Congressman Frank Wolf (R-VA), Congressman Donald Payne (D-NJ) and Congressman Tom Tancredo (R-CO) in founding the Congressional Caucus on Sudan. He will also serve as a co-chair of the Caucus.
The mission of the newly formed Congressional Caucus on Sudan is to provide a forum for members to discuss the issues confronting Sudan and to identify ways to advance U.S. policy in the region.
"Although Congress and President Bush have declared that the atrocities occurring in Darfur constitute genocide, violence continues. Millions have been displaced from their homes and still cannot return. It is critical that we continue doing all we can to focus attention on the region and help those so desperately in need of assistance," stated Congressman Capuano.
The bi-partisan caucus held its first meeting on Wednesday October 19, 2005.
