Rep. Mike Capuano Named to House Committee on Transportation and Infrastructure
June 27, 2002 -- Today, Congressman Mike Capuano (D,MA) was named to the House Committee on Transportation and Infrastructure.
This Committee focuses on a variety of transportation issues ranging from aviation and railroads, to highways, mass transit, Coast Guard operations and maritime transportation. It also has substantial jurisdiction over issues relating to homeland security.
"I look forward to serving the 8th district and the Commonwealth of Massachusetts through this new committee assignment. There are many critical issues facing us regarding homeland security, our nation's airports, public transportation, rail travel and highway infrastructure," stated Congressman Capuano.
While in the Congress, Rep. Capuano has made transportation issues a priority. He is a strong supporter of the urban ring and has secured funding to advance this transportation project. He is a strong advocate of increasing access to public transportation and is working to expand options for commuters.
Rep. Capuano is serving his second term as a member of Congress. He is also a member of the House Committee on Financial Services, the House Democratic Steering and Policy Committee and serves as a Democratic Regional Whip.
