Congressman Capuano Hosts Service Academy Seminar

October 20, 2000 -- On Sunday October 29th from 2:00 - 3:30 PM, Representative Mike Capuano will host a Service Academy Seminar. It will take place in Room E-175 at Bunker Hill Community College, located on 250 New Rutherford Avenue in Charlestown. High school students, as well as their parents and guardians, are welcome to attend the informational session to learn about the requirements and procedures for seeking a nomination to the United States Service Academies.

Congressional staff will be on hand to assist seniors with the current nomination process. Juniors thinking about attending one of the academies can obtain information about the application process.

Those in attendance will receive information about the U.S. Air Force Academy, U.S. Coast Guard Academy, U.S. Merchant Marine Academy, U.S. Military Academy, and the U.S. Naval Academy. Material describing other armed services programs, such as ROTC scholarships, will also be available.

"The United States Service Academies provide our young men and women with the opportunity to receive a quality education and to serve their country. I encourage any student thinking about a career in the military to stop by the seminar," stated Rep. Mike Capuano.
