Capuano Announces Vision Rehabilitation Legislation

September 10, 1999 -- On Wednesday September 15th at 10:00 AM, Representative Michael Capuano (D, MA) along with Barbara Silverstone, Chair of the National Vision Rehabilitation Cooperative will hold a press conference announcing the introduction of a bill to require Medicare to cover vision rehabilitation services. It will take place at the House Triangle.

Capuano and several of his colleagues will mark National Vision Rehabilitation Day by introducing the "Medicare Vision Rehabilitation Coverage Act of 1999". Vision rehabilitation services help restore safety and independence to seniors suffering from vision loss.

Currently 6.6 million Americans over the age of 65 report some level of vision impairment. Rep. Capuano's bill will help them receive the rehabilitation necessary to live independently.
