Congressman Capuano Commemorates Greek Independence Day
April 2, 1999 -- On March 25th, in honor of the 178th anniversary of Greek Independence Day, Congressman Michael E. Capuano expressed his congratulations to Greeks and Greek-Americans. Representing a district rich in Greek culture and influence, Capuano recalled not only Greece's impact on American history, but its long time commitment to befriend and support the United States. Capuano also expressed hope that the United States and Greece would continue to cultivate their cultural and economic ties.
Capuano also co-sponsored House Concurrent Resolution 80, which promotes continued human rights initiatives for Greek-Cypriots residing in the Turkish occupied Karpas Peninsula of Cyprus.
